Namaste
Canadian born Divya (Debbie Fowler) was first trained in yogasana by Swami Shivanandaji in Goa, India. Swamiji's gentle and spiritual approach encouraged Divya to travel to the Himalayas to deepen her experience.
This journey led her to the teachings of the Sivananda style of yoga, a system stemmed in traditional Hatha yoga. She has been teaching since 2008 and continues to develop practice along her yoga journey.
Sivananda's teacher training course was a profound, life changing experience for Divya, inspiring her to transform her lifestyle and continue along a yogic path, honoring her teachers (Saraswati tradition) by learning how to guide others in the hope that they too can enjoy the lifelong wonderful benefits of yoga practice.
Encouraging students to enrich their experience with all aspects of yoga, she teaches with openness and compassion. Her techniques are inspired by the wonderfully diverse teachers she has been fortunate to learn with along her journey. Her classes focus on breathing, meditation, mantra, self reflection, along with philosophy and postures.
Benefits of these ancient practices include self awareness, clarity of mind, increased willpower, improved wellbeing as well as developing balance, flexibility and strength.
Divya travels to India most winters to nurture her practice with her master teachers. She also lives in both the UK and Canada.

There truly is something for everyone with so many opportunities out there for learning and practice. Many of us are fortunate to have access to internet and devices so we can enjoy our favourite teachers anytime. We can easily explore traditional and cultural teachings of yoga, embracing ancient knowledge from those with lived experiences, and master teachers all over the world. We have this incredible opportunity to be inspired and connect with some amazing teachers. It’s been wonderful to reconnect with some of my teachers in India and exploring new teachers:
